Lexington Assessment and Reception Center is considered a maximum security prison and is actually comprised of the reception unit referred to as 'LARC', the Lexington Correctional Center, and the Rex Thompson Minimum Unit.  This facility houses approximately 1,450 male inmates.  The intake portion of the facility is responsible for the intake, diagnosis, and classification of new male commitments in the region.  This process consists of evaluating and assessing the inmate's mental behavior, criminal history, and physical condition.  Additionally, this institution serves as a long term housing facility for males.  The Lexington Correctional Center houses mostly (68%) violent offenders.  The top crime inmates are incarcerated for in Lexington Correctional Center are murder in the first degree with 10% of the population having committed this crime.

Lexington Assessment and Reception Center provides minimum and medium security with job opportunities including working for surrounding city and county agencies in supportive supervised roles.  Inmates can also participate in vocational training to learn and become certified in the electrical trades, computer skills, and can take an apprenticeship program in cabinetmaking.  This facility also participates in the Oklahoma Correctional Industries program.

Visiting Hours at Lexington Assessment & Reception Center:

The Lexington Assessment and Reception Center, Rex Thompson Minimum Unit (RTMU) has visitation on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-5pm.  Inmates at the Lexington Correctional Center have visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30am-3:30pm.
