Willow River/Moose Lake Correctional Facility

Willow River/Moose Lake Correctional Facility are a level III medium custody facility and a level I minimum custody boot camp.  Moose Lake is the medium custody facility that houses over 1,000 male offenders. Willow River is the minimum security boot camp that houses up to 180 minimum security inmates who are non-violent and qualify for early release.  Inmates at Willow River are in a six month intensive program that combines education, substance abuse treatment, critical thinking development, and physical exercise.  After six months, inmates at Willow River are put on six months supervised release.

Moose Lake offers inmates educational and vocational courses designed to give the inmates new skills they can use once released.  Through the Minnesota Correctional Industries offenders can learn skills in the print shop, and in a textile/garment factory that produces most of the clothing inmates across the state wear.

Visiting Hours at Moose Lake Correctional Facility:

  • General population inmates have visiting on Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm-8pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-3:45pm.  You must arrive and register at least 30 minutes prior to the close of visitation or you will not be allowed to enter into the visiting session.
  • Segregation inmates have video visitation on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-2pm.  All visits for segregation inmates must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance by calling 218-485-5170 on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday between 2:45pm and 8:30pm.
