Forsyth Correctional Center

Forsyth Correctional Center is located in Winston-Salem North Carolina.  It is a minimum custody prison that houses 248 adult male inmates.  Some offenders at this facility may be eligible for work release, which allows the inmate to work a job in the surrounding community during the day, and return to the facility at the end of their shift.  Work release allows inmates to prepare for their release financially and by slowly acclimating the inmate to life outside of prison.  Only about a quarter of the inmates at Forsyth Correctional Center qualify for work release.  Other offenders can work on road crews, and jobs within the institution doing jobs in custodial maintenance and in the kitchen preparing inmate meals.

Forsyth Correctional Center offers inmates a drug and alcohol recovery treatment program known as DART and support groups like Narcotics and Alcoholics Anonymous.  Additional vocational and educational courses are taught at this facility through cooperation with Surry Community College.
