Forrest City Low Federal Correctional Institution
Forrest City Low Federal Correctional Institution is a low security institution that is part of the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex. The Forrest City FCC is located in Forrest City Arkansas, Saint Francis County. Forrest City Low FCI has an nearby minimum security satellite camp. The prison has a total of 2,018 prisoners with 296 offenders at the camp and 1,722 offenders at the FCI. Forrest City only houses male offenders. Offenders are housed in dormitory style setting. In total, there are eight housing units between the camp and FCI. The FCI is comprised of six housing units and the camp has two housing units.
Along with the other facilities in the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex, Forrest City Low offers a variety of educational courses and programs. Educational programs include General Education Development, English as a Second Language, Adult Continuing Education, and Adult Occupational Education. In addition to the numerous educational programs provided, vocational training and parenting programs are offered. A residential drug abuse program is available at each facility. The RDAP uses group therapy and counseling to help prisoners battle drug abuse while in prison. The program last 500 hours. UNICOR currently employs around 300 offenders from the Forrest City Federal Correctional Complex. UNICOR enables inmates to work for a furniture line called "Harmony." All inmates at Forrest City FCC are required to have a job and to participate in different programs and services. Services offered at the prison include recreational services, religious services, medical services, mental health services, and more.
Visiting Hours at Forrest City Low Federal Correctional Institution:
- Visits to the FCI and the Camp will follow the same visiting schedule. Visiting hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on weekends and federal holidays.
- Inmates at the FCI are granted 5 visiting points each month. 1 point is deducted each visit.
- Each prisoner is allowed up to 4 adults and 5 children in the visiting room at once.
- Visits to the Special Housing Unit will not exceed a duration of 2 hours.
- The FCI visiting room can hold up to 259 people. The Camp's visiting room has a maximum capacity of 156 people.
- There is an outdoor area adjacent to the FCI visiting room that has a patio for outdoor visits.
- Refreshments are provided to the visitors in vending machines.
- All visitors who are 16 and older must provide proper photo identification in order to enter the visiting room.
- The following items are permitted in the visiting room:
- A clear, plastic purse or bag
- Up to $20.00 in 1-dollar and 5-dollar bills only
- Diapers
- Formula
- Sealed baby food
- 1 blanket (for an infant)
- Life supporting medications
- Hand holding is the only form of physical contact allowed for the duration of the visit. A kiss and embrace is only allowed at the beginning and end of each visit.
