Chillicothe Correctional Institution

Chillicothe Correctional Institution is a mixed custody facility that houses mostly medium and medium security inmates.  Additionally, Chillicothe Correctional Institution houses over 130 Death Row inmates for the State of Ohio.  The total population of this prison is 2,750 inmates.  The prison industries program employs inmates in a chair factory operation, a matress factory operation and a vehicle modification operation.  While incarcerated inmates can take adult basic education courses and obtain a GED.

Chillicothe Correctional Institution offers apprenticeship programs in culinary arts, health care sanitary technician, animal training, and recovery operator.  Additional vocational training is available for inmates in welding, and various construction disciplines including carpentry and HVAC.  Inmates can also participate in community service activities working with dogs, refinishing church pews, creating rosaries, and making clothing for children in foster care.

Visiting Hours at Chillicothe Correctional Institution:

All visits at Chillicothe Correctional Institution are by appointment only.  Visiting occurs everyday in two sessions.  A morning visiting session occurs from 8am-12pm and an afternoon visiting session occurs from 1pm-5pm.  Saturdays have a third visitation session from 5:30pm-8:30pm.  Processing for the morning visitation session ends at 10am, processing for the afternoon session ends at 3:15pm.  You must call (740)-774-7085 (3:30pm-9:30pm) to schedule an appointment up to thirty days in advance, or you can setup an appointment by emailing drc.visitationCCI@odrc.state.oh.us.  Inmates are allowed a maximum of five visitors per session (including children).
