Butner Medium II Federal Correctional Institution

Butner Medium II Federal Correctional Institution, is an all male institution located in Butner, North Carolina, part  of Granville County. The medium security facility currently holds 1,433 inmates. FCI Butner Medium II was originally designed to hold about 1400 inmates. This institution became one of the several facilities that comprise the Butner Federal Correctional Complex in 2006.

Such services provide therapy to inmates who need it. When this facility was built, a nearby firing range was also constructed as an addition to the Butner Federal Correctional Complex.

• Visiting is conducted from 2:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Mondays and Fridays.
• Visiting hours on Saturdays and Sundays are from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
• If you are looking to visit on a holiday,  visiting will take place from 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.
• Visits are tracked on a point system. Inmates have 16 visiting points each month. If an inmate has a visitor on a weekday, one point will be deducted. Visits on weekends deduct four points from the inmate's points.
• Inmates can only have three adult visitors at a time. Adult visitors are any visitor over the age of 16.
• There is no maximum amount of visitors for those under the age of 16. When the visiting room starts to fill, visits will start to be terminated based on factors including how far the visitor live and how frequent the visit.
• Visitors are permitted to bring up to $20 into the facility for vending machines, however, this money must be in coins. The facility has a coin dispensing machine if needed.
• Adult visitors are expected to bring valid identification in order to visit an inmate.
• The visiting room provides a play area for children, however, children should not be left completely unattended during visits.
