Burruss Correctional Training Center

Burruss Correctional Training Center is located in Forsyth Georgia, part of Monroe County.  It is a medium security facility that houses about 806 adult males.  In addition to housing adult male felons, this facility acts as a diagnostics unit for youthful offenders.  Inmates are incarcerated in four separate buildings, each building has four units, each unit is made up of 50 cells that have two tiers of double bunks.  This means that inmates are usually houses two per cell.

Inmates can have various work duties, including working in conjunction with the Georgia department of forestry, public safety, transportation, natural resources, and the national guard armory.  Inmates offer supervised support services within these departments.  Inmates can also take educational courses that include an adult basic education, earn their GED, learn to read, and take correspondence courses.  Vocational skills taught at this facility include veterinary assistant through the guide dog program, forklift driver, culinary arts, horticulture, barbering, warehouse management and custodial work. 

Visiting Hours at Burruss Correctional Training Center:

Inmates are allowed visiting on Saturdays, Sundays and State recognized holidays from 9am-3pm.
