Bastrop Federal Correctional Institution

Bastrop Federal Correctional Institution, sometimes referred to as Bastrop FCI, is a low security prison located in Bastrop Texas.  The facility opened in 1979 and is comprised of the main unit, and a minimum security satellite camp located adjacent to it.  Currently, Bastrop FCI can house upwards of 1,432 male offenders, 188 at the Camp, and approximately 1,244 at the main institution.

Every inmate at Bastrop Federal Correctional Institution who is medically cleared is given a work assignment or must participate in educational courses.  Educational programs include English Second language courses, adult continuing education classes, parenting programs, vocational training and the ability to earn a GED while incarcerated.  Additionally, Bastrop FCI provides offenders who have drug and alcohol addiction with a 500 hour residential drug abuse treatment program, known as RDAP.  The RDAP program fills up quickly and only has room for 96 inmates.  Offenders in RDAP are housed in a separate unit from the general population.

Visiting Hours at Bastrop FCI:

Inmates incarcerated at Bastrop Federal Correctional Institution are allowed visits on Saturdays, Sundays, and Fridays from 8am to 3pm.  Inmates located at Bastrop Camp are allowed visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 3pm.  Additionally, all inmates are allowed visits from 8am to 3pm on Federally recognized Holidays.  The processing of visitors ends at 2:15pm, if you arrive after this you will not be allowed to enter into visitation.  Inmates located in the Special Housing Unit have visitation on Thursdays from 8am to 11:30am.  All visitors must be approved and on the inmate's visitation list prior to attending a visiting session.

Inmates are allotted 32 visiting points on the first day of each month.  One point is charged per each hour of visiting during weekdays, and two points are charged for each weekend/holiday hour of visitation.  Unused visiting points do not carry over from month to month.  Inmates are allowed a maximum of five visitors per visiting session (this includes children regardless of age).  You should always contact the facility prior to visiting to ensure that visitation has not been canceled or that the times have not changed.
