Allenwood Low Federal Correctional Institution

Allenwood Low is a minimum security Federal Correctional Institution located in Allenwood Pennsylvania, part of Union County.  The facility is part of the Allenwood Federal Correctional Complex.  Allenwood Low houses up to 1,250 adult male offenders.  

Allenwood Low operates a Residential Drug Abuse Program known as RDAP.  RDAP is a voluntary treatment program that treats alcohol and drug addiction.  Offenders at Allenwood Low who are in the RDAP program live in a separate unit for a minimum of nine months, and must complete a minimum of 500 hours of the program which is comprised of individual and group therapy.

Inmates at Allenwood Low FCI have access to educational courses that teach adult education, allow inmates to earn a GED, and help prepare an offender for release by teaching them personal, social and legal responsibilities of being a productive citizen.  Vocational programs provided to offenders at Allenwood include culinary arts, fiber optics, office automation, and college correspondence courses.  Industries that provide work detail for inmates at Allenwood include a Dimensional Mill which has positions in clerical office work, assembly, machining, sanding, and shipping.  Inmates are paid a small hourly rate for their work which they can in turn use to purchase items from the commissary.

Visiting Hours at FCI Allenwood Low:

Anyone wishing to visit an inmate located at Allenwood Low Federal Correctional Institution must be on the inmate's approved visitation list prior to attending a visitation session.  Visits at Allenwood Low are held on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and State recognized Holidays from 8am to 3pm.  Visitors who arrive after 2:15pm will not be processed into visitation.  Processing visitors out will begin at 2:15pm and be completed at 3pm.  Inmates are allowed a maximum of five visitors at a time, children under the age of 2 (two) do not count against this number.  Allenwood Low utilizes a 12 point per month visiting system.  Two points are used for each weekend and holiday visit, and one point is deducted for each weekday (Friday) visit.  The visiting room has vending machines with soft drinks, sandwiches, and candy available.  Visitors are allowed to bring up to $25 in $1, or $5 bills or quarters contained in a small clear Ziploc bag to purchase items.
