Walden/Stevenson Correctional Institution

Walden and Stevenson Correctional Institution are located in Columbia South Carolina.  The facilities are sometimes referred to as camps.  They are level 1A and level 1B facilities that house a total of 694 minimum custody male inmates.  Level 1A inmates are within 3 years of release and mostly non-violent offenders.  Level 1B inmates have short sentences and a slightly higher security with more restrictions then level 1A.  Both facilities offer medical and dental services provided by the nearby Broad River Correctional Complex.

Walden and Stevenson Camps offer offenders GED courses and vocational training in masonry, small engine repair, and carpentry.  Inmates can receive anger management, grief and loss counseling, as well as individual and group therapies.  Offenders can also participate in Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous programs.  Inmates can work on various labor crews that provide many supportive roles to the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
