Vernon C. Bain Center is located in the Bronx New York.  This jail serves as the intake and processing facility for the Bronx.  Built on a barge in New Orleans, Vernon C. Bain Center is literally a floating prison, and currently the only ship still in use by the Department of Correction.  Inmates range in custody levels from medium to maximum security.  The current capacity of Vernon C. Bain Center is 870 inmates.  Offenders are housed in sixteen dormitories and one hundred cells within this five story structure.

Visiting Hours at Vernon C. Bain Center:

This facility utilizes the first letter of the inmate's last name to decide which days they may have visits.  Check the current visiting schedule here for a list of days the inmate is eligible for visits.  No visiting is allowed on Mondays or Tuesdays.  Wednesday and Thursday visitation registration occurs between 1pm and 8pm, visits last until 9pm.  Friday, Saturday, and Sunday visitation occurs from 8am-4pm, registration for visiting is from 7am-2pm.
