Stateville Correctional Center

Stateville Correctional Center is located in Joliet Illinois.  It is a maximum security prison that presides over the Northern Reception and Classification Center, and Stateville Minimum Security Unit.  Currently this facility can house up to 4,105 adult male offenders.  The prison is surrounded by 33 foot walls and several armed guard towers to ensure the detainees do not attempt to escape.

Stateville Correctional Center allows selected inmates to work in the correctional industries making soap and furniture.  Vocational skills taught at this institution include barbering.  Inmates can also earn a GED and adult basic education while incarcerated.

Visiting Hours at Stateville Correctional Center:

Maximum security inmates have visitation everyday from 7:30am-2:30pm.  You must arrive by 1pm.

Minimum Security Inmates have visitation on weekends and holidays from 8am-2pm.  You must arrive by 12:30pm.

General population and protective custody inmates can have visits one hour in duration during the week and holidays, on weekends two hour visits are permitted if space allows it.  Segregation inmates can only have visits one hour in length.
