Pickaway Correctional Institution

Pickaway Correctional Institution is located in Orient Ohio.  It is a mixed custody facility primarily of minimum and medium custody offenders.  In addition, Pickaway Correctional Institution is responsible for caring for chronically ill offenders through the Frazier Health Center located on institutional grounds.  The current population of this prison is approximately 2,143 inmates.  Pickaway Correctional Institution operates five Ohio Prison Industry shops that are a modular furniture shop, a print shop, a meat processing center, a beverage processing center and a warehouse.  These Industries employ many inmates are also provide a source of revenue and savings for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.

Inmates have identified C and D units at Pickaway Correctional Institution as the worst units to be incarcerated in.  Offenders have access to mental health and addiction services including the OASIS program which stands for "Our Awareness of Self Increases Success".  Additionally inmates can take advanced job training through Sinclair Community College, which offers certificates in food production, bakery specialist, and many other vocational areas.

Visiting Hours at Pickaway Correctional Institution:

Weekend and Holiday visits at Pickaway Correctional Institution are by appointment only.  Visits on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays do not require an appointment.  You can schedule an appointment by emailing DRC.VisitationPCI@odrc.state.oh.us.  Processing of visitors ends at 2pm, if you arrive after this time you will not be admitted into visitation.  The visiting schedule is as follows:

  • General population inmates have visiting on (the last digit of the inmate's ID number will determine eligibility):
    • Mondays 8am-3:30pm for inmates with even ID numbers
    • Thursdays 8am-3:30pm for all inmates
    • Fridays 8am-3:30pm for inmates with odd ID numbers
    • Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-3:30pm by appointment only
  • Cadre Inmates in Unit A1
    • Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays 8am-3:30pm
    • Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-3:30pm by appointment only
