Perry Correctional Institution

Perry Correctional Institution is a maximum security prison located in Pelzer South Carolina that has a maximum capacity of 966 offenders.  It is a level 3 facility that houses inmates who have committed serious often violent crimes, and inmates who were relocated from other facilities because of behavioral issues.  Level 3 correctional institution like Perry, house inmates in single and double occupancy cells, are secured by double razor wire perimeter fences with multiple electronic detection and surveillance systems.  Perry Correctional Institution participates in the correctional industries program which employs 125 offenders in manufacturing of case goods.

Inmates at Perry Correctional Institution are encouraged to participate in literacy and GED courses or in vocational training that teaches carpentry, culinary arts, and masonry skills.  Perry Correctional Institution also offers a beekeeping program, and allows inmates to work in a sustainable garden that provides much of the vegetables that are consumed by the inmates.  Offenders can also join the "Operation Behind Bars" program which lectures at risk youths and adults on the consequences of criminal behavior what what life is like in prison.  Additional programs include substance abuse treatment, sex offender treatment, and various religious worship services.

Visiting Hours at Perry Correctional Institution:

Visitation at Perry Correctional Institution is based on the first letter of the inmate's last name and utilizes a rotating schedule, because of this you will need to contact the institution for the current rotation.  Visits occur on a rotating schedule on Fridays from 3pm-6pm, and on Saturdays from 1pm-5pm and Sundays from 8am-12pm.
