North Central Unit (Calico Rock)

North Central Unit is located in Calico Rock Arkansas.  It is a medium to minimum security facility that has the capacity to house 800 inmates.  This facility also provides inmates who do maintenance on the grounds of various places in and around the region.

Inmates may take part in educational programs including basic adult education and programs that allow the inmate to earn a GED.  A pre-release program helps inmates get ready for their release date and can provide a good foundation of opportunities for the inmate once they are out of custody.  North Central Unit takes part in the Paws in prison program which allows inmates to work with animals, and has a gardening program that teaches inmates the basics of growing and cultivating plants.

Visiting Hours at North Central Unit:

Visiting at North Central Unit is on Saturday and Sundays from 11:30am-3:30pm.  You must contact the inmate prior to visiting because this institution is on a rotating schedule.  The inmate is not allowed visitation every Saturday and Sunday just the ones they are assigned.  For example the inmate may be allowed visits every 1st and 3rd Saturdays only, or every 2nd, and 4th Sundays.  Contact them by mail or phone and ask what days their visitation is on.
