Massachusetts Correctional Institution Norfolk

MCI Norfolk is a medium security prison that houses over 1,525 adult males.  It is the largest prison in Massachusetts and is contained by a five thousand foot long, nineteen foot high wall setup as maximum security.  In addition, this facility contains a minimum security unit in which inmates can be housed in one of eighteen dormitory like living units.

Offenders are able to take part in many programs aimed at rehabilitating the various causes of an inmates behavior.  An alternatives to violence program teaches alternative conflict resolution skills, and an emotional awareness and healing program encourages emotional and spiritual responsibility.  Inmates also have access to vocational, and educational courses, as well as classes on parenting and substance abuse.
