Lieber Correctional Institution

Lieber Correctional Institution is located in Ridgeville South Carolina.  It is a maximum security prison that houses level 3 male offenders.  Level 3 inmates have committed serious crimes, often violent, or have presented behavioral issues during confinement and require a higher security level.  Lieber Correctional Institution is also responsible for housing all the male death row inmate's in the state.  This facility participates in the correctional industries and employs inmates in a tire retreading operation, transmission disassembly and tape measure recycling operation.

Inmates at Lieber Correctional Institution are provided basic medical, mental health and dental services.  Offenders can participate in a carpentry vocational course to learn the basics of woodworking.  This facility also selects some inmates to provide a community service called "Operation Behind Bars" which allows the inmates to talk to at risk youths and adults and clearly explain to them the consequences of criminal behavior, similar to the scared straight program.  Inmates can also receive substance abuse treatment, participate in twelve step programs like Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous, partake in religious worship services and receive counseling during their incarceration.

Visiting Hours at Lieber Correctional Institution:

Lieber Correctional Institution uses a rotating visitation schedule based on the first letter of the inmate's last name, because of this you will need to call the facility for the current rotation.  Visiting occurs on a rotating schedule on Fridays from 5pm-8pm and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm.
