Green Bay Correctional Institution

Green Bay Correctional Institution is a maximum security prison located in Brown County Wisconsin.  This correctional institution currently houses around 1,091 male inmates and opened in 1898.  Green Bay Correctional Institution is comprised of two 296 bed halls, two dormitories, a 150 bed segregation unit, a transition unit, and a 25 bed mainstream unit.  The facility is secured by 6 armed guard towers, and razor wire fencing.  Green Bay Correctional Institution participates in the Badger State Industries and employs inmates in a textile factory that produces many of the linens and uniforms used within the Wisconsin prisons. 

Green Bay Correctional Institution offers vocational training in cabinetry, various construction disciplines, barbering, graphic arts, painting/refinishing, and masonry.  Educational classes at Green Bay Correctional include adult basic education, literacy, GED classes, and college level correspondence courses.  Additional programs offered to inmates include a re-entry program, parenting classes, and a challenges and responsibility program.  Inmates can receive treatment for alcohol and substance abuse issues, receive anger management counseling, and can receive sex offender treatments.

Visiting Hours at Green Bay Correctional Institution:

All visitors are required to have an approved visitation application on file prior to visiting.  Visitors can bring up to $15 in coin in a clear Ziploc bag for use in the vending machines.  Processing of visitor forms and visitors will stop during the final hour of a visiting session.  You may arrive as early as 7:30am.  For more information read the Green Bay Correctional Institution Visitors Guide here.​  The visiting schedule is as follows:

• Unrestricted inmates (General Population) have visits on: 
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in two sessions:
    • 1pm-4pm (processing stops at 3pm)
    • 6:30pm-9pm (processing stops at 8pm)
  • Saturdays and Sundays in two sessions:
    • 8am-11am (processing stops at 10am)
    • 1pm-4pm (processing stops at 3pm)
  • Unrestricted inmates are allowed 4 visits per week (week starts on Monday ends on Sunday).  Visits are limited to two hours on weekends and one hour on Weekdays.
• Restricted inmates have non-contact visits by appointment only on:
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays in two sessions:
    • 1pm-4pm (by appointment only)
    • 6:30pm-9pm (by appointment only)
  • Saturdays and Sundays in two sessions:
    • 8am-11am (by appointment only)
    • 1pm-4pm (by appointment only)
  • Restricted inmates are allowed one hour of visitation per week.  Call (920)-436-3224 Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm to schedule a visit.
• Administrative Confinement inmates have video visitations by appointment only on:
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from:
    • 6:30pm-9pm by appointment only
  • Saturdays and Sundays from:
    • 8am-11am (by appointment only)
    • 1pm-4pm (by appointment only)
  • Administrative Confinement inmates are allowed on hour of visits per week.  Call (920)-436-3262 on Monday through Friday from 8am-4pm to schedule a visit.
• Segregation inmates have video visits by appointment only on:
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from:
    • 6:30pm-9pm (by appointment only)
  • Saturdays and Sundays from:

    • 1pm-4pm (by appointment only)
