Grafton Correctional Institution

Grafton Correctional Institution is a minimum and medium security prison located in Grafton Ohio.  It currently has a capacity of approximately 2,030 inmates.  Grafton Correctional Institution participate in a correctional industries program that specializes in braille transcription and the bottling of fragrances.  Community service opportunities for inmates include working with animals through cooperation with Lorain County, fostering cats in the under the wing program, roadside cleanup crews through the Department of Transportation and book assembly for grades K-8.  Inmates who did not graduate high school, and do not currently have a diploma can take academic courses to earn a GED or obtain an adult basic education. 

In order to teach inmates a new skill, and better their chances at obtaining legitimate work opportunities after their incarceration, inmates are provided apprenticeship programs in the following areas: tailoring, custodial engineering, landscaping, welding, screen printing, food service management, building maintenance, culinary arts, HVAC, animal training, and carpentry.  The Chaplain's office offers various self help programs, anger management, and multiple religious worshiping services.

Visiting Hours at Grafton Correctional Institution:

Visiting at Grafton Correctional Institution uses a visiting schedule that is based on the last digit of the inmate's ID number.  If the inmate's ID number ends in an odd number they are allowed visits on odd dates, even ID numbers are allowed visiting on even days.  Visitation occurs Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 8am-12pm and from 1pm-5pm.  You must arrive by 9:45am for the morning session and by 2:45pm for the afternoon session.  Weekend visits are by appointment only.  To schedule an appointment call 440-748-5767.  Visiting at Grafton Reintegration Center occurs on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-12pm and from 1pm-5pm.

Grafton Correctional Institution also offers video visitation through a third party company called JPAY.  JPAY will assess a fee for the video visitation which will last 30 minutes.  Video visitations can be scheduled though JPAY from 7:30am-10:30am, 12:30pm-3:30pm, and 5:30pm-8:30pm.  Visitors must still be on the approved visitation list to do a video visit.
