Correctional Reception Center

The Correctional Reception Center is located in Orient Ohio, and is a mixed custody facility that houses approximately 1,500 inmates.  The prison is responsible for the intake, diagnosis, and classification of new commitments in the region.  All offenders are given physical and mental examinations, additionally a full criminal history is taken.  Based upon the evaluations, the best course of treatment, programs, and the appropriate facility for the inmate is determined.  This facility has a full time staff that offers mental health services to inmates.

The Correctional Reception Center is often a temporary facility for many inmates, however some offenders will be housed here for longer periods of time.  These inmates may be eligible to participate in the educational and vocational activities offered at the Correctional Reception Center including adult basic education, the ability to obtain a GED, and apprenticeship programs in culinary arts, electrical, HVAC, automotive repair, animal training, tailoring, landscaping, plumbing, painting, welding, and maintenance.

Visiting Hours at Correctional Reception Center:

Inmates at the Correctional Reception Center are only eligible to receive visitors after being incarcerated for eight days.  Inmates have visiting Monday through Friday from 8:30am-3:15pm based upon the last digit of the inmate's identification number.  Visits last the entire day unless the visiting room gets filled then visits will be terminated earlier.  Inmate's are allowed a maximum of five visitors per visiting session.  Offenders may have two visits per month.  You can bring up to $20 in small bills (no larger than a $5 bill) to purchase items from the vending machines.

  • Mondays are for inmates with last digits 1 or 2
  • Tuesdays are for all Mental Health inmates and last digits 3 or 4
  • Wednesdays are for inmates with last digits 5 or 6
  • Thursdays are for all Mental Health inmates and last digits 7 or 8
  • Fridays are for inmates with last digits 9 or 0

Inmates who are not in reception and are in general population will have visits on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-3:15pm.  You must arrive by 9:15am to be processed into the morning session and by 1:45pm to be processed into the afternoon session.  General population inmates also have access to video visitation offered through JPAY for a fee.
