USP Beaumont is a high security United States Penitentiary located in Beaumont Texas, part of Jefferson County.  Originally designed to house 960 inmates when it opened in 1998, today USP Beaumont incarcerates approximately 1,400 male offenders.  Located adjacent to the main facility, USP Beaumont operates a minimum security satellite camp which houses an additional 560 inmates.  Offenders at the camp are provide a labor support force to all facilities in the Beaumont Correctional Complex.  Labor provided includes grounds-keeping, janitorial work, maintenance, food services, laundry, and warehouse work.

Beaumont Camp is minimum security and consists of two buildings, each with two units that are open dormitory style.  Beaumont USP is a high security facility and houses inmates in three four story buildings, with four units in each building.  These twelve units are comprised of 768 general population cells.  Additionally, one of the housing units has been designated a Residential Drug Abuse Unit which utilizes the RDAP program.  Inmates at Beaumont USP have an average term of 5 years and range in age from 18 to 81 years old.  Although this prison has seen two inmate murders in the last ten years, it is considered relatively safe and is secured by double perimeter fences, razor wire, electronic detection devices,guard towers, and roving patrol.

Inmates at Beaumont have access to educational programs that provide literacy, adult continuing education and the ability for an offender to earn a GED during their incarceration.  Inmates who possess a GED or high school diploma may take vocational training to learn a new skill in basic diesel engine repair, welding, desktop publishing, carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, HVAC, industrial sewing, Commercial Driver's License courses, and culinary arts.  Psychological services are also provided and include self help courses, comprehensive treatment programs, mental health consultations, and substance abuse programs.

Visiting Hours at Beaumont USP:

USP Beaumont conducts visitation on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays from 8:30am to 3pm, and on Fridays from 5pm to 8pm.  Inmates located at the Beaumont Camp are allowed visitors on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays only from 8:30am to 3pm.  All weekend/holiday visitors must arrive prior to 2pm or they will not be admitted into visitation.  Additionally, no visitors will be processed into visitation from 9:30am until the 10am count clears.  Inmates are limited to five visitors per visiting session.  On the first of each month offenders are allotted 8 visiting points.  Two points are deducted for each Weekend and Holiday visit and one point is deducted for each weekday visit.  All visitors must have an approved visitors application on file before they can attend a visiting session.
