Avoyelles Correctional Center

Avoyelles Correctional Center is located in Cottonport Louisiana.  It is a mixed custody institution that houses minimum, medium and maximum security inmates.  Inmates are able to participate in educational courses that include adult basic education and the ability to earn a diploma through the GED program.  Vocational skills taught at Avoyelles Correctional Center include automotive technology and repair, culinary arts, various construction trades, barbering, masonry, and welding.

Offenders at Avoyelles Correctional Center have access to mental health services, including counseling, sex offender treatment, anger management and substance abuse.  Inmates are also provided medical and dental services.  Minimum security offenders from this institution also help service the surrounding community of Cottonport by providing general maintenance services.

Visiting Hours at Avoyelles Correctional Center:

Visiting for general population occurs on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am-3:30pm.  You must arrive and be processed into visitation by 2:30pm or you will not be allowed to visit.  Approved visitors can meet with their inmate up to twice a month.  Visits are limited to four people per visit, this number includes children.  If their is a fifth weekend in a month it will be reserved for inmates with Honor/Trust status only.  Visiting for inmates who are in administrative segregation and working cellblock offenders are allowed non-contact visits only.  The non-contact visits occur on Thursdays from 8am-2:30pm, are one hour in duration.
